The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on businesses worldwide, including Sammie Ho’s OEM product development business from China. The 48-year-old businesswoman experienced a drastic drop in sales, from six figures to four figures, due to the pandemic.
“Previously, I assisted clients in developing products they desired from China,” she explained. “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my sales plummeted suddenly.”
She further noted that some clients had to cancel their orders with her due to the pandemic’s effects. Despite these losses, Sammie, also known as Cikgu Samm, perseveres in the business world.
“I realize that many aspiring entrepreneurs who want to buy goods from China don’t understand the framework,” she said. “This is one of the factors that make it difficult for entrepreneurs to thrive in the business world.”
According to Sammie, the first step for an entrepreneur before investing is to research products they want to buy from China. She advises identifying products that are trending on social media and in high demand in the local market.
Aside from techniques, Cikgu Samm also teaches how to use online platforms to facilitate bulk purchasing from China.
“Sometimes, they have to sell products below their actual value or at a lower margin, resulting in significant losses,” she explained.
Moreover, entrepreneurs with limited capital can still buy goods from China by learning how to sell items using pre-order concepts.
